New Mode—Battlegrounds Duos
\r\n\r\n
\r\n\r\n
Battlegrounds Duos is a new Mode within Battlegrounds! In Duos, you and a partner team up against three other teams of two. Each team has a shared Health and Armor pool, can see each other’s boards, can communicate with each other using pings, and can Pass each other cards through the Portal.
\r\n\r\n
Generally, Battlegrounds changes (like minion and hero updates, seasonal mechanics, etc.) will apply to both regular Battlegrounds and Battlegrounds Duos. If you know Battlegrounds, you can jump into Duos right away! But there are also a few features that make Duos special:
\r\n\r\n
- \r\n\t
- You can queue into Duos with a friend as a team or on your own to be paired with a random teammate of a similar rating. You and a group of friends can also create private Duos games, just like regular Battlegrounds. \r\n\t
- In Duos, the cost to upgrade into each of Tavern Tier 4, Tier 5, and Tier 6 costs 2 more Gold than in regular Battlegrounds. \r\n\t
- There are some special Duos-only minions and Heroes (see below). \r\n\t
- During the Recruit Phase, you can click on the Portal on the right side of the screen to swap between seeing your board and your teammate’s board. \r\n\t
- You can right-click (or two-finger tap on mobile) on any interactable card or button, including minions, spells, the Tavern upgrade button, your hero power, and more, on your side or on your teammate’s side when viewing through the Portal, to bring up a simple Ping menu--similar to Emotes on your Hero. Your teammate can see what you pinged and respond with their own ping, so you can implement your strategy together! \r\n\t
- Drag any card from your hand to the Portal for your teammate, for the price of 1 Gold. They’ll instantly get the card added to their hand (or, if their hand is full, it will appear in their hand once they have the space). But choose wisely: you can only Pass cards from your hand through the Portal. Once you play a minion, you can’t send it from play to your teammate’s hand. \r\n\t
- Battlegrounds Duos will have its own ratings and leaderboard, separate from regular Battlegrounds. \r\n
\r\n\r\n
Once Upon a Time... There was a New Battlegrounds Season!
\r\n\r\nMake your wish come true with Battlegrounds Season 7, Once Upon a Tavern. This is a new chapter in the story of Battlegrounds, bringing a massive minion shakeup for solo Battlegrounds and Battlegrounds Duos!
\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nOn April 16, Battlegrounds Season 6 will end, and Season 7 will begin. That means ratings will be reset, Battlegrounds Quests will be removed, and the Battlegrounds Track will switch over. All rewards that were earned from the Season 6 Track, but not yet claimed, will be automatically claimed. Tavern spells are not being removed and are now considered a regular part of Battlegrounds going forward. Turn timers have been temporarily extended for the start of the new season; turn timers will be reverted in a later update.

\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nHearthstone Updates
\r\n\r\nUmpire’s Grasp
\r\n\r\n- \r\n\t
- Old: [3 Mana] \r\n\t
- New: [4 Mana] \r\n\t
- Dev Comment: Since our last balance patch, Demon Hunter has been a clear power and playrate outlier, warping the meta across all ranks. Pushing back its ability to cheat out powerful demons should bring it more in line with the rest of the meta. We’re accelerating our normal balance patch window to address this one outlier with Patch 29.2, but are keeping our normal post-patch hotfix balance window to give us a chance to make wider changes in the coming weeks, once the meta is less warped around one dominant interaction. \r\n
Arena Updates
\r\n\r\nOn April 16, all ongoing Arena runs will end, and a new Arena season will begin. Like the current season, this next season will include cards across all Hearthstone expansions and each class will get their own curated list of cards in their card pool. Those curated card pools will be adjusted with the seasonal update. The first pick of each Arena draft will still be a Legendary card and the only Legendary card you will be offered during your draft.
\r\n\r\nTwist Update
\r\n\r\nTwist will return in June. We’re working on a huge new Twist season with several unique decks and new hero powers—all of which needs just a little more time to cook. We look forward to sharing more with you about the upcoming Twist seasons in the coming weeks, before the next season begins.
\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nIn-Game Event: Double Trouble
\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nCelebrate the launch of Battlegrounds Duos with a special split-track in-game event! From April 23 to May 7, you can choose one of two rewards tracks to earn Event XP towards. One track focuses on Traditional Hearthstone, granting 4 Whizbang’s Workshop Packs, 2 Standard Packs, and the Yrel the Knight Paladin Hero Skin for completion. The other track focuses on Battlegrounds Duos, granting a Whizbang’s Workshop Catch-Up Pack, a Standard Pack, and a Golem Curator Battlegrounds Hero Skin for completion.
\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nHeroic Tavern Brawl Returns
\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nIt’s back! Heroic Tavern Brawl returns for the week of May 1-May 8. Compete in fierce, high-stakes Standard games for your shot at glory and amazing prizes! Pay the entry fee and then play against other players until you get either 12 wins or 3 losses.
\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nNew Cosmetic Type: Diamond Hero Skins
\r\n\r\nIntroducing new Diamond Hero Skins! Diamond Hero Skins include a 3D portrait and animations, new voice lines, and unique visual effects. Ner’zhul, our first ever Diamond Hero Skin, is for the Shaman class and will be available starting April 16.
\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nJust like on the ladder, we see these Diamond Hero Skins as just below Legendary. Additionally, going forward, our plan is for Legendary Hero Skins to feel truly legendary, like C’Thun does.
\r\n\r\n\r\nBug Fixes and Game Improvements
\r\n\r\n- \r\n\t
- [General] Duels Mode has been removed from the game. Players who had ongoing Heroic Duels runs have had their runs prized out in the same way as is done during a seasonal reset. Tavern Tickets can continue to be used in Arena. \r\n\t
- [General] We’ve updated the minimum specifications to run Hearthstone on iOS and Android, requiring 3GB of RAM and no longer supporting iPhone 6S, iPhone 7, or iPhone 8 base models. \r\n\t
- [Hearthstone] Actually removed the tip that read, in part, “This tip was removed. Translators: please leave this blank.” \r\n\t
- [Hearthstone] Fixed a bug where Splendiferous Whizbang only used the basic hero skins. \r\n\t
- [Hearthstone] Fixed a bug where Queen Azshara’s Ring of Tides counted as a 1-mana card for purposes of cards like Pip the Potent and Skulking Geist, even before transforming. \r\n\t
- [Hearthstone] Fixed a bug where Astral Automaton would appear as a 0/1 when transformed into. \r\n\t
- [Hearthstone] Fixed a bug where several totem-summoning cards still generated Strength Totem instead of Wrath of Air Totem. \r\n\t
- [Hearthstone] Fixed a bug where Khadgar’s Wisdomball could target friendly targets if all enemy targets were untargetable. \r\n\t
- [Hearthstone] Fixed a bug where a High Priestess Jeklik discarded with Soularium would keep the Soularium discard enchantment, leading it to be discarded and multiply every turn. \r\n\t
- [Hearthstone] Fixed various wording, text, and tooltip errors on several cards. \r\n\t
- [Hearthstone] Fixed a bug where Harth Stonebrew didn’t have his Golden animation or his Battlecry animation. \r\n\t
- [Hearthstone] Whizbang the Wonderful has been reverted to its normal effect (it was temporarily changed due to March’s Twist season). \r\n\t
- [Battlegrounds] General performance improvements and fixes for bugs causing crashes. \r\n\t
- [Battlegrounds] Dinotamer Brann’s Hero Power will now wait until you have handspace. \r\n\t
- [Battlegrounds] Fixed a bug where Plunder Seeker couldn’t be played if there were only Tavern Spells in the Tavern. \r\n\t
- [Collection] Fixed a bug where there was only one non-golden Vampiric Blood granted in Core. \r\n\t
- [Collection] Fixed a bug where players got an error message when attempting to craft certain Golden versions of Wild Demon Hunter cards. \r\n\t
- [Solo Content] Fixed a bug where the Mechwarper change made an adventure encounter unable to be solved. \r\n\t
- [Progression] Some Daily and Weekly Quests have been adjusted to be harder to complete but will grant more XP. \r\n\t
- [Progression] Fixed a bug where Mini cards granted by Botface didn’t give progression for the “Play Miniaturize or Mini cards” weekly quest. \r\n

\r\nKeep up with all of the latest Hearthstone Esports news and content on the Hearthstone website and Twitter. Good luck, have fun, and we’ll see you in the Tavern!
Once Upon a Tavern, there was a new Battlegrounds season, filled with updates for Traditional Battlegrounds and a magical new Mode, Battlegrounds Duos! Jump into the fray with new fairy-tale themed cards and rewards. Whether you’re playing on your own or with a partner, a new chapter in Battlegrounds unfolds on April 16!
\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nWith Season 7, Battlegrounds Ratings will reset and Battlegrounds Quests will rotate out of the Tavern. Tavern Spells will stay in the Tavern for both traditional Battlegrounds and Battlegrounds Duos as a regular part of Battlegrounds going forward.
\r\n\r\nPlay Battlegrounds Duos
\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nGrab a friend or make a new one, Battlegrounds Duos is nearly here! We’ve been hard at work on Duos since we first shared it with you all at BlizzCon, balancing and polishing the mode.
\r\n\r\nThe basics of Duos are the same as when we first announced it. You and a partner queue together in a game against three other teams of two players. Teams have shared life totals, pass each other cards through the Portal (for 1 Gold), and fight in tag-team combat to take the crown!
\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nYou can swap between solo Battlegrounds and Battlegrounds Duos on the main Battlegrounds menu. From the Duos menu, you can invite a friend to play as your teammate, or you can queue on your own to get paired with a random player and make a new friend! There will be separate ratings for solo Battlegrounds and Battlegrounds Duos, and separate leaderboards.
\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nNew Duos Heroes and Minions
\r\n\r\nWith the launch of Duos, we’ve added some Duos-specific Heroes and cards that take advantage of the mode’s new gameplay: 4 heroes, 16 minions, and 3 tavern spells. These will only be available in Battlegrounds Duos, not the regular Battlegrounds mode. Some of these will look familiar to people who played Duos at BlizzCon, maybe with a few updates, and some of these are brand new!
\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nHuge Updates Across Solo and Duos
\r\n\r\nBattlegrounds Duos isn’t the only story to tell Once Upon a Tavern. Season 7 includes a massive minion update for both Duos and solo Battlegrounds, including 50 new minions, over a dozen returning minions, and a couple new Tavern Spells. There are changes across the whole game, including a rework to Beasts, big refreshes to Dragons and Mechs, and balance changes to tons of minions and heroes! All these updates apply to all Battlegrounds games, traditional and Duos.

This patch, coming when you least expect it, includes updates to Standard, Wild, Battlegrounds, and more!
\r\n\r\nHearthstone Updates
\r\n\r\nGeneral Updates
\r\n\r\n- \r\n\t
- Cards in your deck will now be in a random order. We’d get more into the specifics about this change, but we’re not sure that’s a rabbit hole worth exploring. \r\n\t
- Before queueing for a match, you’ll now select whether you want to go first or second, and then get paired with a player who has made the opposite selection. \r\n\t
- You’re not imagining it: the toys in Whizbang’s Workshop do move when you’re not looking. \r\n\t
- You can now pet the dog in Hearthstone. \r\n
Card Updates
\r\n\r\nShadowstep
\r\n\r\n- \r\n\t
- Dev Comment: For player sentiment reasons, Shadowstep has been removed from Core. A new card, called Step, will be added into Core in its place. \r\n
Freebird
\r\n\r\n- \r\n\t
- Old: [4 Mana] \r\n\t
- New: [0 Mana] \r\n
Living Prairie
\r\n\r\n- \r\n\t
- Old: Battlecry: If you played an Elemental last turn, summon two 3/3 Cows with Rush. \r\n\t
- New: Cowlossal +2 \r\n
New Hero Skin: Boulderfist Ogre
\r\n\r\nIntroducing our bouldist hero skin yet: the Boulderfist Ogre Hero Skin! It’s all ogre now.
\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nBattlegrounds Updates
\r\n\r\nGeneral Updates
\r\n\r\n- \r\n\t
- Battlegrounds is now turn-based! Players must drag their minions during the combat phase to choose where they attack. \r\n\t
- Due to market forces, minions now cost 4 Gold each. \r\n\t
- Selecting A.F. Kay as your hero will now force-close your client for the first 2 turns. \r\n\t
- All players who said Bob was rooting for them will receive a 7-day suspension. He told you not to tell the others! \r\n\t
- Toxic Tumbleweed has been removed from the Tavern Spell pool for saying some really hurtful things. \r\n
Introducing: Battlegrounds OCTUPLES
\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nWhen we announced the upcoming Battlegrounds Duos, we were really excited to see the positive response from the community. Players who tried the mode had a lot of fun playing with their friends. We’ve spent the last few months polishing the Mode for launch and we realized: if playing as a pair is fun, then playing as a team of eight would be four times as fun!
\r\n\r\nSo, instead of Battlegrounds Duos, we’ll be launching Battlegrounds Octuples! In Battlegrounds Octuples, you team up with 7 other players to hang out in Bob’s Tavern. Now, everyone’s a winner!

Meet the Team: Jeff
\r\n\r\nJeff is a big Hearthstone fan, coming to us from the Marketing team as part of a cross-team internship program. A little bit about Jeff: he’s an avid rock collector, an amateur toothpaste historian, and a Control Priest aficionado. Everyone say, “Hi Jeff!”
\r\n\r\nAs part of Jeff’s internship, he’s designed and implemented some of the changes in this patch.
\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nJeff Updates
\r\n\r\n- \r\n\t
- Priest healing can now go over their max life total, like Armor.\r\n\t
- \r\n\t\t
- Jeff Comment: It’s only fair.:) \r\n\t
\r\n\t - Deathrattle has been renamed “Jeffrattle.”\r\n\t
- \r\n\t\t
- Jeff Comment: The word Death is a little bit scary, so I changed it. (◕‿◕✿) \r\n\t
\r\n\t - Anduin is now the default Battlegrounds Bartender. Coincidentally, all other Bartenders have been temporarily removed due to a bug. \r\n\t
- Fixed a bug where the frog from Staff of the Nine Frogs (Doctor Holli’dae’s weapon) turned orange.\r\n\t
- \r\n\t\t
- Jeff Comment: Frogs should be green. (ʘ‿ʘ) \r\n\t
\r\n
Psychic Scream
\r\n\r\n- \r\n\t
- Old: [7 Mana] \r\n\t
- New: [5 Mana] \r\n\t
- Psychic Scream has been added to Core. \r\n\t
- Jeff Comment: I scream, you scream, we all scream for Psychic Scream! :P \r\n
Mindrender Illucia
\r\n\r\n- \r\n\t
- Has been reverted to its original form. \r\n\t
- Jeff Comment: I LOVE the art on this card. :D \r\n
Worgen Greaser
\r\n\r\n- \r\n\t
- Has been reverted to its original form. \r\n\t
- Jeff Comment: I lost to this card in my last Arena run. ⊂(◉︿◉)つ \r\n
Boulderfist Ogre
\r\n\r\n- \r\n\t
- Old: 6/7 \r\n\t
- New: 6/8 \r\n\t
- Jeff Comment: I thought this card could give a bit more stats for the Cost. :/ \r\n
New Feature: In-Client Replay
\r\n\r\nIn celebration of 10 years of Hearthstone, upon login all players will be shown a replay of all the Hearthstone games they’ve ever played—cementing Hearthstone’s place for another 10 years to come!
\r\n\r\nDev Comment: To make sure you don’t miss anything, the replay will play at .5 speed and will pick up where it left off if your client is accidentally closed while it plays.
\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nBug Fixes and Game Improvements

- [General] As part of our continued modular download project, you can now choose to download or remove the card art of Stoneborn General. \r\n\t
- [Hearthstone] Playing Warsong Wrangler will now give the King Krush Hero Portrait longer arms so that it can better fire its Steady Shot. \r\n\t
- [Hearthstone] All Mini minions now have a banana in their art, for scale. \r\n\t
- [Hearthstone] Fixed a bug where Mixtape didn't have the Fire Spell School. \r\n\t
- [Hearthstone] Fixed a bug where Gaslight Gatekeeper wasn’t obtainable from packs. \r\n\t

Bet you didn’t expect this here.
