China is certainly revealing itself to be the next great economic power. This will likely play out in a similar fashion to the last iron curtain and cold war scenario.
In time, we'll likely allow Russia to recover and partake in global affairs again, but that will be a matter for our children or grandchildren to decide.
The soviets would have given us a run for our money back in the late 70s and early 80s...I was there for the first one. Hell, I'm almost nostalgic for a great powerful USSR! 😁But those days are gone.

I think the Russians are looking at a "commodities based standard" old buddy, not just a gold one.
That's why the US and UK are pissed. They are the gatekeepers of the global financial structure.
The only reason they have "power" in the world is because they control the ponzi scheme that is the current global economic structure. Russia (and China) are a direct threat to it.
It's never pretty when a global power loses its control of the global reserve currency.
